Good for you, good for our planet.
An environmental solution guarantees carelessness. By changing your lighting to LED lamps, you will instantly enjoy energy efficieny without sacrifising lighting quality, performance or your selection.
Energy saving: 90%
Today, there are many different techNologies lamps producing light. Some of them require more energy, while other less so as to provide a comparable amount of light. That'a what makes them more or less efficient. Conventional lamps transfrom only 5% fo energy into light, while the rest 95% is emitted in the atmosphere as heat. Energy saving techNologies lamps provide the same amount of light with 90% less energy consumption, which entails less heat emission. Thus, you save energy and money.
Life expectancy to 25 years. Modern techNologies lamps have longer life expectancy compared to the conventional lamps. With 25 years life expectancy, a lamp replace 25 conventional lamps. This way, they help you save money and last longer, time after time. Life expectancy is object to the average usage of 2.7 hours/day or 1,000 hours/year. This average is affected by lamps usage in different periods of time (dark winters and sunny summers), weather conditions (sunshine and rainy dark days) and the room where the lamp is used in (short usage in the bathroom and longer life in living rooms).
In an attempt to help our environment and reduce electricity consumption, all of us (I'd like to believe) replace conventional incandescent lamps with new low consumption lamps. Although, their price is multiple of the old ones, their life expectancy and consumption reduction make them the best solution. But is it? Philips, which comes up with innovative technology solutions very often, is here to make the difference with its new invention, the LED lamp.
All of us must have experienced led lights, especially in modern cars. Intense light, many led, so even if one is dead you still have light, very low consumption so that battery works with less burden, and at the same time, stronger lighting and white light. All these advantages are adavantages but it would be even better if they could function at 220/120v. This is finally solved by Philips with their new lamp that is already sold in Europe and pretty soon in the USA during 2009.
Externally, we can find many similarities with the old incandescent lamps, but with consuming 7W, its performance is equal to a convetional lamp of 40W. It's not very powerful but will be definitely used in many cases. Its life expectancy is estimated to be 45,000 hours, a number which is 30 times greater than the conventional lamps. Additionaly, there is no mercury used during its production, something that makes it envrinonmentally friendly even when it's time to have it disposed.
What is a LED lamp?
A LED (Light Emitting Diode) lamp is source of light that perfectly fits in an electric circuit. As LED lamps turn on with the motion of electrons in a semi-conductor material, they don't get burnt, don't ger overwarmed and have no hazardous substance.
